Being a commercial locksmith in Waterloo is a great feeling, I personally got the chance to meet with many great business owners and property managers. While doing calls in Waterloo for the past 4 years I realized that many of the people who decide to move closer to Waterloo do it because of the city’s innovative image.
Waterloo is a city that is always on the go, which makes it hard for businesses to stand out but has large potential. Imagine opening a new business in a city like Waterloo and trying to stand out in the midst of the chaos. Ideas keep your business alive!I made a little experiment this week to see how businesses respond to a door to door interaction. I printed close to 50 double sided letter brochures for my locksmith Waterloo service and head out for distribution. I started in the afternoon so things are more relaxed and it was good. Since my brochure looks amazing many businesses were in fact interested in keeping it. Yet, sometimes people do not want to be bothered, so I made sure to be polite and respectful as I have learned to do throughout my locksmith career and beyond. I was happy to finish the west part of the city, and continued towards uptown Waterloo. I went where I had most chances of business traffic and started distributing around the university area. I must say, a busy city is definitely a rude city. Everyone is busy and no one cares about my locksmith brochure, but then I thought for a second — this is the exact reason no one cares. How do you turn a busy person into an interested person? You create a “non-sales-speech” intro — something like “I decided to stop by and give you my brochure just in case!” I mentioned that I do 24/7 locksmith services in Waterloo and I am here to help. So I walk in, I don’t ask if they want anything and I don’t offer anything. I am just a passing by stranger with a cool looking brochure (that my wife designed for me) who happens to be a locksmith 24/7 and happens to service the uptown Waterloo area. Now that’s how you create an interest. The more random and less predicted your body language is the more interest you can create. Rests of the businesses in Waterloo were already looking at me differently. I walked in same way, looking around surprised and wondering who I leave my brochure to as I was just passing by. I am all shy quiet and polite but raise my voice if necessary so the waiter or the owner of that business knows the purpose of my visit. My purpose was? Drop an important brochure just in case! Here is the truth, no one wants to hear your story, simply because we do not have time for everyone’s stories, dreams and hopes. But we can interest each other by taking a different approach and sharing. Meaning that if you show your interest in a business a business might, just might be interested in you and hopefully you will be remembered. So next time you think that doing business in Waterloo is tough, maybe you need a few creative ideas to make it work simply because creativity keeps your business alive. Lastly I will say that no matter who you are or where are you from. You can change the course of your business and the course of your life, only when you stop focusing only on money and start looking around for inspiration. Money is important when good is done, good business, good service, professional hands and most of all good hart. Customers can be unpredictable and sometimes you might feel that you are under attack, don’t freeze. The best cure for rudeness is smile. My conclusion is simple — Hard work+Creativity+Timing=gets you results! My result was that I had run out of brochures and got declined only 1 time. I believe an idea needs time to develop and only more work plus time = will tell. So, business in Waterloo is booming and when you need a quick commercial locksmith service in Waterloo to provide you with a friendly and professional service. You know who to look for. Thank you and good luck in your business!
